This is an old, old, story. But since the sites database tanked I’m now going to re-add it. Our $50 dollar minibike challenge took place on Memorial Day, 2007. It was a lot of fun, check it out after the break.
The first couple days were spent fixing chains, clutches and other broken parts.
Duane’s bike was the biggest and needed the most parts fixed. Still say it looks like a moon buggy.
How many people does it take to change a brake band? Six.
No Idea what I was trying to explain here, but it looks pretty messed up.
Day of the race, climbing the hills to the find a good spot to race at.
Once again I look like I’m “special”. I’m blaming it on the hill we were parked on. Its a lot steeper then it looks.
The cool thing about Kyler’s bike was it didn’t need a kickstand, just had to lay it on its side.
Chads bike was rocking a snowblower motor. Needless to say the heatshelding was ripped off the first day.
Ah the hill. Doesn’t look steep here, but look at how small the Ranger is at the top.
The start line, vroom!
Chris decided to go first (me!).
What speed, what power, what dorkyness! Look at that 5 horse tear it up!
Here’s the finish line. Kevin was the timer. This is the only picture that does the hill any justice.
On Chad’s turn his motor decided to not start. So he spent a good while swearing and pulling while Kyler made his run.
Go Kyler Go!
Kyler’s bike had a torque converter clutch that ate the hills alive. The bicycle tire meant you had to watch for rocks though.
Chad’s bike still not starting…..
And he’s off!!!
Flying up the hill.
Yeah that looks cool, were are all the babes at?
Kylers bike took going up with ease, but the brakes were mostly there for looks. Who needs breaks anyway’s?
The crowd…..
…..Goes WILD!!!!!
The last few races were ran at once, wile the first ones were just singles timed.
Here’s a shot that show a good proportion of how high the hill was, look at the small little Burban.
Mud puddle made for some interesting take offs, check the videos at the end of this post.
Returning to camp down the two tracks.
Duane was supposed to be in the race too, but his Burro blew out its rear tire on the way. Picking up the wounded bike.
The times.
Kyler wins it!!!
After the race, waiting to see who won.
The winners circle.
Congrats Kyler!!
The winner and his high performance machine.
